The Indiana choice scholarship program is the largest scholarship program in the country and while that program comes with a large number of regulations and the amount of the voucher could be raised the size of the program speaks to its strength. However, Indiana’s tax credit scholarship program while very beneficial for low income students isn’t extended to wealthier students.

Indiana’s charter sector feature some of the strongest authorizers in the country such as Ball State University. The multiple successful authorizers in Indiana ensure that charter schools do not suffer from needless regulations allowing them to be innovative and creating one of the strongest and most vibrant charter school sectors in the country.
Online Learning Score: 0%
Students have access to multiple providers of online instruction, but the funding mechanism is overdue for improvement. Indiana continues to expand the opportunities for students and teachers to engage in learning via digital methods. Districts that have implemented 1:1 devices for students, moved away from traditional textbooks, and offered alternatives to learning within brick and mortar from 7-4 are growing faster than state data can track. Indiana is working to connect these districts and all learners within our state and beyond to each other and the resources needed to transform schools and learning in the digital age.
Teacher Quality Score: 85%
Student performance and growth are significant factors in evaluating teachers and poor performance is grounds for dismissal. One third of teacher salaries stems from performance related compensation.
